I'm sure everybody has heard the saying "it's the little things that count", and I'm also assuming everybody knows what that means, it means that even the least extravagent of actions and things can sometimes have the biggest impacts on people. About a week ago I watched a Ted Talks video called the 3 A's of Awesome by Neil Pasricha, the writer of the Book of Awesome. In his video he spoke about his parents living hard lives, he spoke of the tragedies in his own life and he explained how the idea for his book came to him. Neil Pasricha had spoken about how his wife had divorced him and how not long after that, his best friend passed away, now, he told us that was by far the worst time of his life and how he greived for a long while but realised that he couldn't keep living his life that way and something needed to change. Neil said, once reality hit him he decided that there was only two ways to go, he could have kept greiving about his losses, or he could get out and enjoy everything he still had to live for. After I watched his video it got me thinking about what little things I have experienced in my life that had an impact on me, or what little things do I do everyday without notice that benefit me? I thought and I thought and I thought, I came to a conclusion that the 3 little things that I love the most are; drinking warm green tea in the morning, falling asleep infront of a campfire and eating chocolate cookies right from the oven! Especially this time of year; the winter, I can say that one of the best things in the world is waking up super tired, boiling the water in the kettle and making myself a mug of my favourite organic green tea from a little store called David's Tea. When I drink tea I get all warm and fuzzy inside and it ensures me that I'm going to have a great day. One of my favourite summer activities is camping. With that being said, another little thing that cheers me up is falling asleep infront of the camp fire. It's the best feeling to cuddle up in one of those lawn chairs with a warm over-sized sweater on knowing that in the morning I will smell just like that fire. However, my MOST favourite little thing is eating chocolate chip cookies straight from the oven! I like to think of myself as a pretty decent baker! The most simple and delicious recipe is the chocolate chip cookie and I would just like to say that the best thing I ever did with one of my recipes was adding in an entire bag of chocolate chips, you are not supposed to do that, but you can never have enough chocolate! It's sooo sweet and delicious and it makes you super hyper! Alright, drinking tea, sleeping infront of campfires and eating chocolate chip cookies are the little things that make me smile! What are yours? (^.^)
