At first I felt like this would be a simple task, but I soon came to realize it was much more. The quote "chasing home" is quite vague, which made it very difficult to come to a conclusion about what exactly the meaning was. It could mean anything, and that was proven when we began to brainstorm as a class; everybody had a different view and I was lost. Then I thought, maybe if I can't figure out what "chasing home" as a whole means to me, I need to look at the two words separately.
The first thing I did was look at the true definition of chasing, what I came up with was that it means, "to pursue something with a specific intention". As soon as I found the definition for chasing, everything started to come together. I know that when your chasing something your doing it with a passion, nobody says that they're going to go chase something without an intention, that makes no sense, you start a journey with an end in mind, when you start something you plan out everything that could happen, or anything that is going to happen in between, you also most often than not, have an ending planned out, you know how you want to finish and you know every which way that something could finish. To chase something is to work hard to get to a place that you want to be.
The second thing I did was I found the definition of home. In the dictionary, the official definition of home was, "the place in which one's domestic affections are centered; the place or region where something is native or most common; a person's dwelling". From this definition I get that the majority of people in the world feel like their home is the place in which they live. The dictionary explained that home is where your family is, it's where you eat, sleep, where you love, make friends and where everything is familiar. I agree with the definition that the dictionary brought up, because I believe that "home is where the heart is", home is where the people and things that you love are, it's where your surroundings are familiar and you're free to be yourself.
Once I found out what the two words meant on their own, I was able to put them together again to explain what "chasing home" as a whole means to me. I have come to a conclusion that in my own personal opinion, the quote "chasing home" means that you are doing something that means a lot to you, something that reflects you and that hits you close to home. When you're chasing home you're pursuing something that will affect you and the people you love in a positive way, you try to include familiar aspects that create a sense of home and you're working toward bringing back some sort of fond memory that you had when you were at that place that you call home.
